Poker.co.uk had been down the last couple of days so couldn't play on there until tonight when I played three largely un-enjoyable games:

€2+0.20 Omaha 5 seater - Finished 2nd
€10+1 NLHE 10 seater - Finished 2nd
€5+0.50 NLHE 10 seater - Finished 8th (I had been flat calling bets on a paired board with king high flush, the river was a 2 and turned out he'd been betting with 2-2 so rivered a full house. Wasn't optimal play by me I suppose but he was a -73% ROI donk so I think I was well ahead of his range (obviously I was as he had just a pair of twos till the river).

So I made a profit again at least even if it wasn't much fun!

Latest news!!

Nothing too exciting, don't worry! I played a few of the usual games on Monday making a small profit (€5) which I lost last night with a bit of tilt induced bad play (not all by me mind you!) and have just played 3 games this evening with some success:

€10+1 Cooler (Pays top 5) - Finished in the top 5 for €20
€5+0.50 10 seater (Pays 4 places) - Finished 2nd for €14.50
€3+0.30 2-table (20 players) - Finished 1st for €24.60

The two table tournament was fairly easy to win after I sucked out early on with some over aggressive play - I floated a king high flop with A-J and I just didn't believe he had the king after he showed weakness on the turn so re-raised all in, he called with Q-Q but I hit an Ace on the river -oops! About time I was on the other end of a bad beat though haha! After that I seemed to hit hands quite often, and got paid off each time before bullying my way into a massive chip lead with 4 left, finishing first soon after. A good day! Think I'll stop for tonight before I get tired as that's when I seem to play badly.

Discipline

So... I've noticed a pretty regular pattern in my play. I start off in the afternoon playing well and winning. Then I carry on too long and stop concentrating as much, getting tired and generally not focusing, then I lose, then I tilt, then I lose more, then I act like a prick in the chat box. So apologies to all you donks out there I said "ffs" too or called you a fish, but I am trying to stop, I don't want to offend you, you're not an idiot/retard/spaztastic gashface, you played fine, now lets play again with my new found manners and good humour!! :D

Don't know how long that will last but I am being disciplined today and stopping while I've won a bit. (Also I am going to see The Prodigy at Brixton academy tomorrow so want to get an early night before work tomorrow - it's gonna be a looooong day!!)

As for details of todays games:

I played 2 Omaha Hi/Lo €2+0.20 5 seaters and a €3+0.30 NLHE 5 seater and in all three of them I got to heads up and the other person went on some sort of maniac rush raising or going all in every hand as if they are just happy to be in the money and so I ended up just having to make a stand and hope my hand held up - which it didn't, so three 2nd places there.

Then I thought "Why am I playing these low stakes when I am rolled for higher games?" I'm not sure of the answer to be honest, so I played two 5 seater NLHE games, a €5+0.50 and a €10+1. They went really well and I felt I was playing my best game, I've started reading about poker a lot again lately and feel it's really helped me so I was feeling really 'in the zone'. I got to heads up in the €10 with a slight chip lead and in the €5 I had relentlessly stolen pots to become a massive chip leader while the other 2 remaining players were on around 1000 chips each.... then the software crashed. ARGH!!! How am I supposed to not tilt under these conditions?! When I managed to re-connect I had lost over 1000 chips in the €10 and about 500 in the other, in which I immediately doubled one of the other players up with a tilt-ish all in shove (though they called with Q-J against my A-8). Managed to repel the tilty urges though and scraped back some chips in the €10 until I tried being tricky against my aggressive opponent:

Me again, how are you?

Following my last post I had a good few days off and went on a pretty good run when I got back. I had a week off work so it helped not being tired when I played. I won 5 sit n gos in a row at one point and the bankroll was steadily rising - though since then I have done a bit of silly tilting!! Seem to be back on track now though! I have played 50ish games since my last post and have been mixing it up a bit and playing NLHE, Omaha Hi/lo and regular Omaha, a mixture of 5 and 10 seaters, turbo/non turbo, etc just to keep it interesting.

I did dabble in cash games, but lost 2 buy ins (€20) quite quickly - the first when I held the nut flush but they had a straight flush. The second I lost a bit thinking I had the nut low before I realised it wasn't Omaha Hi/Lo!! What a stupid rookie mistake!!! Shocking! So that set me off and I quickly tilted away the rest of that buy-in before returning to sit n gos.

Have also played a couple of MTT's with no real results except the odd cash here and there, nothing very much though.

I also keep registering for the freerolls and going all in every hand till I'm out when I go on tilt - it seems to help!! Though other people get a bit angry about it and call me a donk/fish, etc haha!

I plan on grinding it up playing sit n gos until I have enough to play the GTD Mtt's as it appears there is money to be made in these.

Having a break...

Gonna have a few days off now as I'm struggling to concentrate, keep tilting and getting sucked into petty chat box arguments with donks!! I have been trying to not argue back to these fools but when you're on tilt its hard!! At first I was just using 'humourous' comebacks to answer him but I soon got annoyed and that is when I start playing bad!! (Not sure if you can see it in the picture). So a break is needed I think...

Only played two games, I won the first but played bad in the second and finished third. They were both Omaha Hi/Lo €5+0.50 5 seaters.

Poker poker poker

Played a bit more today and didn't tilt quite as much, though I think I need a break so am gonna have a few days off.

Played a bit earlier in the day today which was good as I wasn't as tired, but bad because the games took longer to fill up and I had to drop down to play a few cheaper games in between.

So my results were:

Omaha Hi/Lo €5+0.50 5 seater = 2nd, 3rd, 3rd
Omaha Hi/Lo €2+0.20 5 seater = 2nd
NL Holdem €5+0.50 5 seater = 1st
NL Holdem €3+0.30 5 seater = 1st

The 3rd places were disappointing as on both of them most of the chips went in when I was ahead. Actually, one of them was one of the 2nd place finishes, either way it could have been more but at least I'm still slowly grinding out a profit each day.

I might play tomorrow, not sure yet but Sat-Tues I probably won't have time, you never know though with this addictive game haha!

Was loving his spaztasic limp-overbet till the river... booooooooooooooo. Lost the rest shortly after with A-4 to someone with A-2. Meanwhile in my Omaha €5+0.50 5 seater I am chip leader which I procede to blow with some excellent tilty gambling which didn't pay off and I am soon in 3rd place with 3 left... luckily managed to regain my composure and won it.. is this a sign I am getting better?! Should have shipped it all in on the turn really, though they may have called anyway as they called the pre-flop UTG raise by me - one of the tightest players on the table and called on the flop despite not having the correct odds. I knew I was beat on the river and called anyway, don't know why I do that?! Their overbet gave me a glimmer of hope that it was a silly bluff but I knew I was beat even as I called. Don't know why I let freerolls get to me like this, or any game for that matter! It is my biggest weakness at this game!

Following on from that I played four €5 Omaha Hi/Lo 5 seaters, busting out first with a silly gamble in the first one, then managed to control myself enough to win one...normal service soon resumed and I tilted my way into 4th in the next one before chucking it away heads up on the last one to finish 2nd..... really should have made a bit of profit tonight, I've only got myself to blame and that tilts me even more.... lol tiltaments

Tilty McTilt

Just played three Omaha €5+0.50 5 seaters, starting to get frustrated with these now. Getting impatient with all the people chasing their hands regardless of the odds, and my play reflects this as I am playing like one of them aswell at times. So am giving up for today again.... bit of a pattern emerging!

I finished 1st, 4th and 5th anyway.

Idiotic play!!

Been playing like a real idiot tonight!! I always seem to play bad and tilt easily when I'm tired. I stayed up till about midnight last night then got up at 5am for work so come 9pm-10pm this evening I'm not in the best frame of mind to concentrate on anything... so I play poker.

Was playing ok at first but went on tilt in the first €5+0.50 Omaha Hi/lo game after finishing 2nd to some fish that kept rivering me. I then played a €2+0.20 5 card draw game like a fool and went out first, along with another €5+0.50 Omaha hi/lo game in which I finished 3rd. Terrible play by me! At these stakes I always advocate playing ABC poker as the games are full of people like him that should fold and don't. He played like an idiot, but so did I as I shouldn't have been involved in the hand in the first place. Still, a bit of a sickener losing to King high haha!

So 5th out of 5 again in that one. I managed to compose myself for the next game - back to the €5+0.50 Omaha Hi/lo 5 seater, which I won fairly easily to end up with a tiny profit on a bad night of poker. I'm going to bed now!!

"So very moron"

Once upon a time I rivered a flush against a poor player that had been min betting and giving me the correct odds to draw to the flush. When I hit and stacked them they said "So very moron". I posted this on the forum earlier on today and it always makes me laugh!! Why I am saying this? Because in my first game today I was "so very moron"!!

It was the usual €5+0.50 5 seater Omaha Hi/Lo game and for some reason I don't even know I busted out first like a moron fishing for the Lo side of the pot, not even the nut lo! Inevitably he was a fellow moron also fishing for the lo side but also had a weak pair to go with his better lo than mine so scooped the pot.... I played like a true donk, not sure what came over me there really - every now and then I seem to inexplicably play a hand like a complete spaztard!!

Only played 2 more games after that, the second was the same game as above and I finished an uneventful 4th. Decided to go back to NL holdem for a game after that so played a €5+0.50 5 seater which I won. Think I'll stop for tonight now as I'm not on top form!!

Running a lot better today, only played 3 games but have been picking up some nice hands and everything seems to be going right. Had the odd bad beat here and there but have managed to stay focussed and not tilt for once (if only I could be like this all the time!) Played two €5+0.50 5 seater Omaha Hi/Lo games finishing 2nd and 1st in them, and as they were taking ages to fill up I played in a €10+1 5 seater No limit holdem which I also won! Having a break now and I'm going out later so may not play anymore today but we will see.

Good old tilt..

Went on a bit of a bad run earlier and went on stupid tilt as usual!! The balance went as low as €295 at one point. I have managed to scrape it back up again now though but am stopping for the night as I am playing a bit stupidly. Also I punched the bed in a tilting rage and now my wrist is hurting!! Poker is bad for your health. Kids, just say no.

Games since my last update

Just been sticking to the Omaha Hi/Lo €5+0.50 games mainly with the odd €2+0.20 when the others are taking too long to fill up!

I did play a €1+0.10 NL holdem rebuy and a €30 freeroll, they were both frustrating and un-enjoyable though really, finished 57th out of 178 in the rebuy and 8th out of 148 in the freeroll for a massive €1.20 haha! Also played the forum freeroll which was more enjoyable as there is some good players in that, I didn't do very well though and finished 12th out of 27.

I cashed in 6 out of 10 of the Omaha 5 seaters and also had a bit of a tilt and played a €2+0.20 5 card draw game which I won! Beginners luck again maybe!!

Moving On Up....

Played 8 games since the last post including a €5+0.50 NL holdem game which I really didn't enjoy due to the large number of idiots keep going all in/never folding/bad beating me so am going to lay off that and stick to the Omaha for now! As for the Omaha Hi/Lo games I played 5 at the €5+0.50 level finishing 1st twice, 2nd once and a 3rd and 4th place. Also played a €2+0.20 one which I won and, as my bankroll allows it now I tried out a €10+1 game. Maybe I just got unlucky this time but the standard seemed a lot higher, most of them seemed to know what they were doing and I felt a bit lost again at times, the table was a lot more aggressive and ended up being a bit of a crapshoot as the blinds were on 200/400 and then 300/600 with 3 of us left. The luck was with me this time though and I ended up winning that too! The two games I played today I dropped back down to €5+0.50 as I'm still learning Omaha Hi/Lo and they seem so much easier.

I had a 4th place finish, two second places and a first place so still doing consistenly well at these which I'm pleased about. I have started to read a little about rules/strategy so should be able to keep this up if I keep learning as the other players blatantly aren't! haha!

Played quite poorly even by my amateurish Omaha standards but got a bit lucky near the start and never really looked back - BOOM!

I still don't really know how to play Omaha that well but since my last post I have played five more of them and have finished 1st twice, 2nd twice and 3rd once! Would have won 1 or 2 more if the luck went my way aswell. Top two get paid in each game so it's going well!

Omaha!!

Since my last post I've played 3 more €5.50 Omaha Hi/Lo games and 1 Omaha €2.20 game (both 5 seaters). I've continued my run of cashes and finished 2nd in all of them! Making it 7 cashes in a row on 5 seater Omaha tables!! Weeeeee! Also came 2nd in both of the NL holdem games I played before this run so it's 9 consecutive cashes in total, too many second places though so the profit hasn't jumped up that much!!

Update...

Decided I'd give Omaha Hi/lo another go after all and just played another two €5+0.50 5 seater sit n gos!!

Amazingly, I won both of them so that's three played, three won! haha! I am a bit clueless at times but still, must be doing something right!! The fact that most of the players are even more clueless than me must be helping!! So I might stick to Omaha Hi/Lo for a bit after all, probably not though - my luck is bound to run out!!

Going nowhere fast!!!

Not updated this for a while due to the fact that it's a bit boring and only about two people read it!!

Since my last post I have played around 60 games, mostly the old 5 seater tilt inducers, haven't had a lot of luck to be honest, though I haven't lost a lot, just haven't moved forward either!!

I was up to the "dizzy" heights of €206 after beating 52 people to first place in a 200MPP freeroll (I should play these more often, they're pretty easy by the look of it as I finished 12th the week before aswell). Have been up and down between €150-200 and after a couple of games today I'm on €183.29.

Came 2nd in a 5 seater €5+0.50 no limit holdem sng and also played an Omaha Hi/Lo one which I somehow won! haha! Won't be sticking to that though as I felt a bit lost and clueless at times, maybe one to work on when I've got more time.

Time is the main problem as I don't get much chance to play at the moment so am just fitting in a few turbo/speed games where I can! Hopefully things will change soon and I can put a bit more time in and increase that profit!!!

Update..

I played a few heads up games after yesterdays post, one I won on the first hand when they re-raised me all in, my A-A beating their A-9. I only made a small profit in the end though.

As for today, I have played 3 games and have ran pretty good. A €5 5 seater speed game which I finished 1st in, came 1st in a €5 10 seater aswell and then in a €5 10 seater turbo I finished a really annoying 4th!! I was 2nd in chips, though we had virtually the same amount and the blinds were huge, I shoved with two random cards and he called with A-5 :( I'd thought he would have folded anything except a monster hand as he would have been all but out if I'd won the hand, so that was pretty disappointing. Never mind, the bankroll is increasing that's the main thing....

Poker sucks

I'm not running very good at all. People in the games at these stakes are so keen to get their chips all in pre flop... if you don't run good you've got no hope! I've played 5 games, I exited two in 3 way pre flop all ins!! The first I held AK v A3 V 10-5, the second was Q-Q v A-J V 3-3. Both of these were in the early levels so says a lot about the standard of play. Decided to play heads up after that but my luck wasn't much better there either:

Not playing enough!!

Since my last post here I've only played 10 games, so not really playing enough at all. When I do play I'm pretty much staying where I am profit-wise, though again have been getting some shocking beats. (Though I did put one or two on other people for once which was nice!!! haha!)

Still keeping track of every game on my spreadsheet but it's pretty boring so I won't post it today as I am tired!

Some of the players are such idiots, making ridiculous plays and then typing stuff in the chat box taking the p*ss after they get lucky and beat you. Don't think I'm ever gonna stop getting wound up by stuff like this!! This is turning into a bit of a tilt blog, gotta stop playing when I'm tired....

Slow progress

I have posted my spreadsheet of tonights results (I'm on another Pc so have had to create a new one). Didn't start off very well and went on tilt a bit. I noticed I was playing far too aggressively against people that will call with anything so tightened up and results almost instantly improved. I played 4 'cooler' tournaments too. In these 10 seater games the first 5 double their money and the rest don't! I cashed in them all except one in which I finished an annoying 6th!

I might play a couple more games but thats the results so far.

Dunno why I played tonight, had a long day moving things out of the house and am nackered so went on major tilt. My play wasn't that good really but some of the calls people make, blah blah blah, etc, etc.... I played 6 games, only cashed in two (two 2nd places) and resorted to tilt induced, childish name calling in the chatbox:

"u suck"
"scope"
"you've got aids"
"fish"

etc, etc. Pretty embarassing really but oh well :D hopefully writing it down will stop me doing it!!

Not played many games as I am moving house at the weekend so have been busy. Played 4 frustrating donk-bad-beat-filled €5+0.50 5 seater games and cashed in two of them (won one and came 2nd in one) so have made a tiny bit of profit since last time.

Movin' On Down..... (and back up again)

Wasn't a brilliant start to the €5+0.50 games for me. They are still mostly full of bad players, though the difference is that they are more aggressive than the average €3-er!, more raising and re-raising. Basically all you need to do is wait for a hand to hit and hope that it holds up when you inevitably get put all in!! Anyway I got bad beat out of my first game, 2nd in the next, in the 3rd game I went on a massive tilt (due to tiredness I think!), someone was going all in every hand and I called with A-6 suited (!!) and lost to K-8, and then called the other half of my chips away with A-3 v his 5-5. Started another and had to drop down to €3+0.30 level for the one after. I managed to calm down though and won both of these games so am now up to €128.74.

I'm not 100% sure about the accuracy of what I just typed so am going to start a spreadsheet to record all my results as sharkscope misses the odd game.

Movin' On Up!

Only played 5 games since my last post - the Gambling.co.uk forum freeroll which I busted out fairly early in this week, (about 23/24 out of 30 odd people) and another 4 of the €3 5 seaters. I had two 1st place finishes, one 2nd and one non-cash (3rd again I think it was). My sharkscope is looking quite good at the mo as I have won 4 of my last 8 games and finished 2nd in 2.

This has brought my bankroll up to over €110 meaning I can now move on up to the €5+0.50 sit n gos and say goodbye to the €3+0.30 ones, hopefully for good!!!

A quick couple!

Just played a quick couple of €3 5 seater sit n gos (one turbo and one speed). I came 2nd and 1st in them, though the opposition were pretty weak, the one I came 2nd in was slightly tougher as he was raising me most hands heads up so in the end I made a stand with Q-8 and he called my all-in with Q-9...game over! Still, made a bit of profit and am nearly over the €100 mark. Here is a sample hand!

I put him on a flush draw or gutshot draw, maybe both, but as he called my final bet I'm not too sure?! Only hands I can really think of that he might call with are K-9 or maybe 7-7 - 2-2 (exc 6-6) if he didn't realise about the board pairing?!

Running like poo!!!

That is the problem with 5 seater speed or turbo games - high variance!! Played 9 in total (some yesterday) and my luck has been pretty bad. Not that many terrible bad beats (though have had a few) just hands not holding up heads up or on the bubble. QQ V A10, AQ v J8, that sort of thing. Anyway, out of the 9 I played I only managed to win one, but finished 2nd 4 times. I aim to win these as coming 2nd doesn't give you a lot of profit, and as mentioned before, with a bit more luck I would have won more! :D (That's a popular phrase!!) After all that I'm about 1 euro down...

Let's get this challenge started!!!

Tonight, I played the €200 FPP tournament, €30 freeroll and $150 Gambling.co.uk forum freeroll - all on Poker.co.uk. I missed the first 40 minutes or so of the FPP one as I was out playing footy and finished in the middle of the 80ish players that entered. The €30 FR I came an annoying 17th out of 106 (top 10 got paid) when I raised a limper with A-J, he called with A-10 and check raised me all in on an A-10-x flop. The forum freeroll is great value as only 20-30 people normally enter, 27 entered tonight and I finished first for €75 - so that has really kickstarted this challenge!! I think I will play some €3 five seater sit n gos tomorrow with my increased bankroll as I'd been rinsing them before I started this....

Just had a quick two table session before I go out, one table was terrible the other was great and I hit quad Kings with K-K and almost doubled up again with A-A, dropped a buy-in on the other table though so finished up with a small profit. (I have been buying in for €3/$4.69 so far).

Waste of Time!!

Ignored my own advice from last night and played the $150 10:30am freeroll. Two hours later I bust out in 62nd out of 585 people (top 50 cash). The trouble I'm having is if you don't hit hands you can't make moves to steal, as people will call with anything! Also had an un-successful spell on the cash tables resulting in a €3 loss! Having a break till tonight when I will play the forum freeroll so at least the standard will be better than the last couple I've played!

Freeroll Fun

I registered for four of the freerolls on Poker.Co.uk this evening but wasn't home in time for the first two, the third one I missed the first 30 minutes or so and came back to find Q-Q which I swiftly went out with versus A-J. The fourth one was the €50 freeroll which I played from the start. Basically playing super-tight and only playing premium hands almost right up until the final table, even then it was pretty loose and I sat back too much getting blinded away. Eventually finished 6th because of this! Should have got involved more but didn't really pick anything up besides hands like 10-2, 9-3, etc and with people making loose calls all over the place I was reluctant to make a move! I think it might be a better tactic to stick to the cash tables and only play the freerolls with bigger prize pools as that took over two hours to win €3.25 - 6th out of 119.

As for hand historys to post there was nothing very interesting, early on I tripled up with A-K v A-3 and A-6, and also this one I folded pre-flop because of his chat in the chatbox. "Should I raise with A-A?" etc. I'm not falling for that sunshine!! :D

Frustrating...

Played 2 tables for nearly an hour, buying in for €3 which works out as $4.69 on the $0.05/0.10 table.

Kept getting rivered by people chasing gutshots, etc but managed to double up on one table which I then left. The other table was a lot more frustrating and I eventually went busto in a hand where I limped pre flop with K-J, flop was K-J-7, they called my pot sized bet with 9-9 and hit a 9 on the turn. I bet about 3/4 pot which they called and I check called their river all in for my last $2.50. I don't think I played the hand particularly well but I didn't much respect their play as they were calling bets with any pair/draw so thought I could well be ahead of them.

A Slow Start

Well, as you can see I have posted this right after my introductory post! It has been a slow start to be honest and I haven't played much poker at all, I think this challenge will really kick in during the winter as at the moment there are too many distractions and things to do!!

I am going to try and play more than I have been though....anyway, my results so far:

I played 4 freerolls in the last 2 weeks of July and 2 in the first week of August. There were 3 €30 Freerolls and the other 3 were €150 forum freerolls (www.gambling.co.uk poker forum).

The €30 ones are predictably annoying with bad beats-a-plenty and I only managed one cash - 4th out 114 for €2.85! Didn't have a lot of luck in the forum games really, though I did finish 6th in one, due to a hand I wasn't happy with that was a bit "tilty". Alas, I can't find the hand history!! :D

After that I didn't play until today, put my €2.85 on a 0.05/0.10 USD table and played for about half an hour till I'd doubled up and then left.

The Challenge

So.... I decided to do the "Jesus Challenge".

For those that don’t know, poker player Chris “Jesus” Ferguson did a thing where he started from $0 playing freerolls, and won his way up to $10000. Sticking to the following rules:

“To ensure that I keep my bankroll intact, I've adopted some key rules: I'll never buy into a cash game or a Sit & Go with more than 5 percent of my total bankroll (there is an exception for the lowest limits: I'm allowed to buy into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less). I won't buy into a multi-table tournament for more than 2 percent of my total bankroll and I'm allowed to buy into any multi-table tournament that costs $1. If at any time during a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game session the money on the table represents more than 10 percent of my total bankroll, I must leave the game when the blinds reach me.”

I will be pretty much sticking to these rules, though I will be playing on Poker.co.uk (under the name CitrusSR) so it will be in Euros and the smallest sit n go is a €3 buy-in.
